Installation instructions - CJ5/XK

Congratulations on the purchase of your CJ5/XK - the ultimate five speed conversion for your Jaguar XK!

Your kit should contain the following items:

• New Classic Jaguar 5 speed transmission (see ratio table below)
• CJ5/XK billet aluminium adapter plate
• Grade 8 fastener kit
• CJ5 speedo cable complete with speedo drive gear
• New CJ5 drive shaft
• Heavy duty CJ5 clutch disc (10")
• Billet polished stainless steel shifter
• Billet 5 speed shift knob
• Wiring for reverse lamp switch
• Detailed installation instructions
• 5 year/unlimited mileage limited warranty certificate

Installing your new CJ5/XK is a simple process!

• Your transmission has been shipped dry - we recommend Mobil One ATF (automatic transmission fluid)
• Remove the original bellhousing from the Jaguar 4 speed gearbox
• Install the Team CJ adaptor plate to the bellhousing using the 8 x 1 1/2" - 7/16" bolts and washers supplied with your kit
• Although not essential, we recommend installing the original locking tabs

• Place bellhousing upside down on a sturdy workbench (or a clean floor) and you should see the tips of the 8 bolts just shy of the mating surface of the CJ5/XK adaptor plate

• Carefully lower your CJ5/XK transmission into the machined recess in the CJ5/XK adaptor plate
• Secure the transmission to the bellhousing using the 4 x 1 1/4" - 1/2" bolts and lock washers

• Install trans mount/buffer supplied with your kit to the chassis cross-member
• Install your clutch and bolt the bellhousing to the engine in the normal way (using the original bellhousing bolts)

Install engine and trans in usual way Install CJ5/XK drive shaft Note: XK 120 owners will have to cut away the old trans mount from the chassis cross-member and weld a custom bracket (supplied with transmission) in place. This is not necessary with XK 140 and XK 150 because they do not have rear trans mounts View a customer's XK 120 bracket installation

• Install shifter using the two bolts already installed in the shifter tower
• Hook up CJ5/XK speedo cable
• Push reversing light connector into the fitting on the side of the transmission casing and hook it up with the original Jaguar harness
