FAQ - Damaged E Type Frame Rails

The following photograph shows corrosion damage to the forward section of the left hand engine frame rail on a 1964 E Type roadster that really appears to be in (otherwise) excellent condition. To the uninitiated, damage such as this may seem trivial and assumed repairable. In fact, for all practical purposes, a frame rail damaged to this extent should be scrapped and replaced with a new assembly.

Warning! Any E Type found to have corrosion or accident damaged engine subframes should immediately be taken off the road and repaired professionally. Defective engine frame rails are potentially lethal.
