| Team CJ builds an E Type Jaguar for Earl & Evan Herrera |
September 7, 2003Some of you may already know Sam Herrera from his occasional starring roles in our CJ Workshop updates. Sam is not just a talented and valued Classic Jaguar employee, he is also a special person and member of the CJ family. He and his wife Gin have three wonderful children, including the two young men you see pictured below - 3 year old brothers, Evan and Earl.

Back in June we told you how Sam and Gin were coming to terms with the desperate news that Earl has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Tragically, and almost unbelievably, we have since learned that Evan also has the same terrible disease. As you can imagine, this news has been almost too much to bear for the Herrera family.

As the medical world continues to search for a cure for Muscular Dystrophy, we have been looking at how we, as a company, can be of greatest practical assistance to Evan and Earl. Having considered all our options, we have decided to do what we do best - and build the Herrera family an E Type Jaguar. More specifically, we are going to build a 1966 E Type roadster that will be sold upon completion for the benefit of the Herreras. We already have the donor car set aside and work is scheduled to begin in the very near future.Classic Jaguar is ready to assume the entire cost of building this car. Having said that, we are not proud and would certainly welcome any and all contributions along the way. Whether you are a CJ customer or one of our corporate suppliers, if you think you can be of any assistance, we would love to hear from you. In a project of this magnitude, every little helps.
Realistically, given the current workload in the CJ workshops, this project is going to take around two years to complete. Although our current thinking is to offer the finished car at one of the prestigious auctions during the 2005 Monterey classic car festival, anyone interested in purchasing the car beforehand (and having it built to his or her own personal specifications) is welcome to contact me at Classic Jaguar. Should the car be sold in this way, stage payments would be made throughout the course of the restoration.
If you are interested in owning the car yourself, please contact me by email at danmooney@classicjaguar.com
