Raise the front of the vehicle by the use of a trolley jack.  Place jack stands in a suitable location upon the body of the car.  With the jack stands placed ensure that you have enough clearance to remove the reaction plate.  Lower the trolley jack so the car is supported by the jack stands.

Remove the front road wheels.

Remove the lower sway bar link from both lower front A arms.

Remove the large upper ball joint securing nut from both front upper A arms/vertical link.  Break free the upper balljoint, the complete hub is now free to rotate and this unit is heavy, so please take care.  A suitable item should be used to support this hub so as to not place tension upon the brake pipe.  Please note that all the tension is now off of the torsion bars.

Position yourself underneath and in the center of the vehicle.  Remove from each side of the torsion bar reaction plate two bolts that secure the reaction arm to the torsion bars.  The large bolts that pass through the chassis section and the reaction plate can now be removed.  The reaction arms can now be driven back along the torsion bar splines.  If it is some time since this job was done on your particular car this may require some considerable effort and levering etc.  Remove the reaction plate.

You are now ready to install your Team CJ adjustable reaction plate. Place the reaction plate up into position and pass the large socket head bolts supplied through the plate and the chassis sections.  Do not secure them at this time.

Slide the reaction arms forward on the splines of the torsion bar and note that the reaction arms should be approximately 90 degrees to their original position.  The two bolts that secure each side of the reaction plate to the front frames can now be fitted.  You will note that one of these bolts has a modified head.  This modified bolt should be fitted with the provided spacer (washer) and placed in the lower hole of the reaction plate.  Do not secure these bolts at this time.

Due to the age of these vehicles and the factory manufacturing tolerances it has been found that some people may experience problems aligning the bolts and reaction arms in the reaction plate.  Should you experience this problem the holes should be enlarged slightly until the bolts, etc. fit with ease.  It is advised that you remove the reaction plate to do this.

At this time you can now fit the adjusting cams.  They should be fitted below the reaction arms from the front with the cam at its lowest point.  We advise that you place the reaction arms approximately mid-position in the slot.  This is not a critical measurement and you should not overly concern yourself with the accuracy of this position.  Secure the adjusting cams by the use of the lock nut supplied.

All of the securing bolts for the reaction can now be tightened up.

By the use of a torsion bar setting tool, available from Team CJ, support the front hubs in their correct position. By the use of the rotating cam adjust the torsion bar tension until the front suspension can be fitted together.  Reassemble the front suspension in the reverse order of its disassembly.  The vehicle can now be lowered to the ground and the ride height checked at both sides.  Fine adjustments can now be made by simply rotating the cam on the reaction plate to the required position.

A final check should then be made on the security of all bolts and fasteners and the vehicle road tested.  After the road test recheck the ride height and carry out any minor adjustments as required.  Carry out final check on the security of all fasteners.  You can now compliment yourself on purchasing a Team CJ product and installing it yourself!
